General Assistant - Behavioural Centre Full-time Job

Purpose of the Position:

To provide day-to-day general support and assist the Head of Department in ensuring smooth and efficient operations within the Behavioural Centre. The successful candidate will help facilitate patient care activities and maintain a clean and organized environment.

Key Performance Areas & Duties:

• Place daily orders for free-issue items from the kitchen

• Order stationery every Monday and collect it from the stores

• Ensure all patient manual orders are signed off by management

• Prepare and set up tea, coffee, sugar, utensils, and dishes for patients

• Wash and maintain clean utensils and dishes for patient use

• Set out lunch for patients at the designated time

• Collect dirty towels from the centre and deliver them to the laundry

• Pick up clean towels from the laundry and restock as needed

• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and refrigerator

• Create and organize new patient files as required

• Provide porter services for patients between the ward and the Behavioural Centre

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric) – Essential

• Must be bilingual (fluent in English and one other South African language)

• Ability to follow instructions and work under minimal supervision

• Strong sense of hygiene, punctuality, and patient care
