A JAMB score of 180 clears the general admission floor at a number of Nigerian universities for the 2026/2027 session. Here’s which ones, based on the cut-off marks approved at JAMB’s May 2026 policy meeting and individual schools’ own screening notices.
180 in JAMB at a glance
- JAMB’s national minimum for university admission in 2026 is 150 — 180 is comfortably above that floor.
- Several universities set their general screening cut-off at exactly 180 for 2026/2027.
- 180 still may not be enough for competitive courses (Medicine, Law, Engineering) at the same schools.
- Meeting the cut-off only qualifies you for post-UTME screening, not automatic admission.
Universities with a 180 cut-off for 2026/2027
Based on the cut-off marks approved at JAMB’s May 11, 2026 policy meeting and individual schools’ post-UTME notices, the following set their general minimum at 180:
- Afe Babalola University
- Ahmadu Bello University
- Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun
- Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA)
- Nigeria Police Academy
- Nigerian University of Technology and Management
- Shanahan University
- University of Abuja (now Yakubu Gowon University)
- University of Ilorin
- University of Jos (UNIJOS)
What 180 doesn’t guarantee
A 180 clears the general screening bar at these schools, but individual departments — especially Medicine, Law, Pharmacy and Engineering — usually set their own higher aggregate requirements. A 180 is a strong score for less competitive courses at these institutions, but check your specific department’s cut-off before assuming you’re in.
List compiled from JAMB’s May 2026 policy meeting figures and individual university post-UTME screening notices. Cut-offs can change between sessions — confirm with JAMB’s CAPS portal or the institution directly before applying.
