About Wiz Admissions, in one line: we exist to close a gap we kept running into ourselves. Most study-abroad and scholarship content online is written generically, for a global audience, by teams who’ve never dealt with the specific hurdles African applicants face — documentation requirements, visa refusal patterns, proof-of-funds thresholds, and application costs that hit differently depending on where you’re applying from.
We operate remotely, and we write from that vantage point first — while keeping every guide useful to students anywhere pursuing international education. According to UNESCO’s international student mobility data, sub-Saharan Africa has one of the fastest-growing populations of students seeking education abroad, yet most of the advice written for them treats “African applicant” as an afterthought rather than the starting point. That’s the gap this site is built to close.
What We Do

Every scholarship listing carries a “last verified” date, because outdated scholarship information is one of the most common ways applicants waste weeks of effort on programs that no longer exist or have changed their terms.

Guides get revised when programs change their requirements, rather than left to go stale indefinitely.
Who Wiz Admissions Is Built For
The starting point for this site was West African students — Nigeria and Ghana specifically — because that’s where the gap between generic advice and what actually gets an application approved felt widest. Visa financial-proof requirements, credential evaluation timelines, and interview expectations differ enough by country of origin that advice written for a general international audience often misses the details that decide an outcome.
That focus carries through the guides on this site, but the underlying mechanics — how a Statement of Purpose gets evaluated, what a recommendation letter needs to say, how scholarship deadlines actually work — apply just as directly to applicants from other countries navigating the same systems. If you’re outside West Africa, the guides are still built to be useful; you’ll just find the visa-specific sections lean toward examples from that starting point.
